Since 2022, EK has been dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint and achieving sustainable excellence through innovative practices that integrate renewable energy, reduce waste, and optimize resources.
From powering our 110,000m² facility with solar energy to reimagining cooling systems that eliminate daytime air conditioning, we’re setting new standards for sustainable manufacturing. EK is lighting the way to a brighter, greener future.
Powered by the sun’s brillance
With 1,650 solar panels in usage, our 110,000m² facility is completely self-sufficient, with surplus energy being sold back to the grid.
Cooler, greener, smarter
An innovative internal water cooling system maintains optimal temperatures in the day without air conditioning.
Sustainability begins at home
With staff residences and a renewable energy ecosystem, EK employees are empowered to live sustainable lifestyles outside of work.
Built-to-last luminaires
Utilising our proprietary durability and build technology, EK’s products have long lifespans with minimum material wastage.
Turning waste into opportunity
Food waste is recycled for on-site agricultural use or collected for local farms.
With 1,650 solar panels generating up to 600W each daily, our facility is completely self-sufficient, even selling surplus energy back to the grid.
Solar power generated by our solar panels, making our 110,000m² facility self-sufficient.
Peak solar energy production during summer, exceeding the facility’s energy needs.
From making use of sensor lighting over always-on lighting.
From reducing dual lighting tubes to single tubes.

With sustainable practices embedded in our office operations, EK ensures smarter resource use. Our workplace is designed to minimize energy consumption and environmental impact while creating a comfortable and eco-conscious environment for our team.
Using -4°C water to cool the facility
By cooling water at night from 12°C to -4°C, this water is circulated around the facility via internal systems to act as a natural air-conditioner in the day.
Energy-smart appliances
Office equipment has been upgraded to high-efficiency models (Class 1 and 2 instead of class 3), cutting down on energy usage across operations.
Paper-free efficiency
A digital-first transition has significantly reduced paper usage, streamlining office workflows and minimizing waste.
Energy-saving illumination
We’ve replaced always-on lighting systems with sensor-activated lighting, cutting unnecessary electricity use in office spaces.
Our facility is a testament to how innovative solutions can coexist with ecological responsibility. We aim to create an environment that not only reduces our carbon footprint but also enhances the well-being of our employees.
80% of employees live in on-site staff residences, eliminating the need for daily commuting and significantly reducing transportation emissions. The facility’s design allows employees to walk to work in minutes, fostering a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
25 EV Chargers powered by solar energy are available on campus, offering employees affordable charging at one-third the market rate. EK’s commitment to clean transportation extends to its fleet. One third of company vehicles are fully electric, with plans for continued EV implementation.
Built to last luminaires —
Engineered for the extreme
Utilising our proprietary durability and build technology, EK luminaries are built to last. EKRobust-certified products go beyond IP65 and IP66 ratings, and are designed to withstand long-term usage and external elements. EK’s luminaires also utilise module-based replacement and maintenance, meaning that minimum material wastage across a product’s lifespan.
At EK, sustainability is a full-circle effort that benefits our environment, employees, and the local community. By embedding circular practices into our operations, we ensure that resources are maximized and waste is minimized.
By providing on-site lodging and meals, EK eliminates the need for employees to seek external housing or food options, further reducing emissions and waste while fostering a cohesive, eco-conscious community.
All meal ingredients in our company cafeteria are sourced locally as much as possible, supporting nearby farmers while reducing the carbon footprint of transportation. With all meals provided, our employees enjoy convenient, sustainable dining options every day.
EK is committed to leveraging its expertise, resources, and innovative solutions to drive meaningful change, not only within the lighting industry but also in fostering sustainable practices across operations. Here’s our commitment to sustainable progress in 2025 and beyond:
Implement staggered electricity usage management in aging rooms.
Lower air compressor pressure from 0.78MPa to 0.72MPa, saving 0.7% of power per 0.1 MPa reduced.
Raise the main outlet water temperature from 6.7°C to 10°C, saving up to 6-8% electricity consumption per degree raised.
Repair or recycle electromechanical maintenance parts across EK’s entire product line up.
